Ever since the computer revolution took place, the question stated in the title has been lingering in people's mind.

The meaning of the term "computer" has undergone several changes. According to Webster's 1828 Dictionary the word is defined as

"One who computes; a reckoner; a calculator."

Since using a machine to perform computation was not common in those days, "computer" had to be a person, not a device as commonly known today. Throughout our discussion here, "computer" refers to any hardware, software connected to the device, especially the whole Internet.
